Pinkmare’s House for Zombie Popcorn Hunt and Newness from RedMint

Hey, everyone!  I’m back again sooner than usual coz I’m just loving my new computer. SL looks so awesome on it! Shadows – whoot! I’m still figuring out what to do with those shadows, though, so this post will be the same old, same old, picture wise. Although I think the quality is better than before.

So, this time, as I was looking through my inventory at what had been dropped on me recently (mostly in my absence), I found a cute dress from Pinkmare’s House that is available in the Zombie Popcorn Hunt, which ends on February 15. Yay! You still have time to go get this one! The outfit includes the hat and the shiny rubber combat boots, too!  I also found some great hair and skins from Redmint, which I must say, I fell in love with.

How cute is this?! Normally when I try on Redmint skins, I’m a bit disappointed – not because of the quality, of course!  Just because they don’t look “right” on me. They look so cool on everyone else who wears them. So, once again I tried, hoping that this time they’d suit me. And they do! I particularly love the eyebrows on these new skins. Also, Moni seems to have softened them somewhat, making them look, idk, gentler. In any case, I love them! They come in oodles of colors, from the mainstream Pale tone I’m wearing here, all the way to pinks, purples, and dark drow. They really are fantasy style skins, but I think this new batch crosses over to mainstream quite nicely.

The Redmint hair is awesome, as usual. This style comes in single colors or in duo-tones like I’m wearing here.  The bangs are angled asymmetrically, giving it an edginess that appeals to little old moi.  Well, that’s about it for now.  Hope you liked.  Until next time…

Newbie Style Challenge II

So, I feel kinda bad coz ever since I read that Gogo was doing another Newbie Style Challenge, I’ve been practically AWOL as Desiree.  I love creating new avatars, but since LL did away with last names, I was not thrilled with being BlanketyBlank Resident.  Ewwww.  What a horrible development.  But Gogo tipped us all off that the Library of Birmingham’s entrance portal still has names available.  That was all I needed to decide that the challenge was on!

I rezzed inworld as Katastrophic Hurricane (lol) on November 5th and have been having so much fun ever since.  Nothing like a new challenge to rev up one’s SL, huh?  The challenge is to create a new avatar and spend no more than L$550 to pimp him or her out.  Because freebie challenges have gotten a bad rap – designers depend on people spending lindens, not just grabbing freebies all the time – Gogo encouraged people to spend a little.  I have spent some lindens on Kat – a total of L$159 so far, but honestly, for this post, I spent only about L$10, thanks to gridwide hunts, lucky chairs, midnight manias, group gifts, and the wonderful FabFree store.

This is my favorite of the new looks.  The skin is available at the FabFree store from Imagen – it’s an older skin, but I’ve always loved the Lia skins.  I added tattoo layer makeup from MOCK, also free at the FabFree store.  I picked up the shape, which I’m wearing throughout this post, from Salt and Pepper for the Mushroom Hunt.  The cute necklace is also a Mushroom Hunt gift – this one from EY:NO.   I have to say that I’ve fallen in love with this quirky little shape.  My daughter, who is an art student, swears that this face is completely unrealistic – the features are too large for the head, but I don’t care.  There’s just something so wistful and sad, and a bit alien about her.  As I pointed out to her, SL avatars don’t have to be realistic!

My next look is thanks to the lucky board at Blue Blood.  I stalked those boards for quite a few hours, I must admit, trying to get this pink version.  Yes, very funny coz I’m Blue Blood’s “official” blogger – I update the store blog, and I could have easily just asked Ghani for the dresses, but that wouldn’t have been fair.  One of the challenge’s rules is that you cannot get your designer friends to give you stuff.  The shoes are the latest subscriber welcome gift from G Field, by the way.  I don’t think I have these for Desiree!  The cute hair is the Snow White hair from Bubblez Designs, available at the Bloggers R Us shop.  The skin is a brand new group gift from [VoiD], and I’ve added tattoo eyemakeup and lipstick layers, also available from [VoiD].  I admit the makeup was a gift from False Imako of VoiD.  I thanked her for putting out a newbie kit for those under 30 days old, and I asked her where the tattoo layer makeups were located, and voila, she gave me these!  Since I didn’t “request” the items, I’m going to use them!  (*sticks out tongue*)

Speaking of [VoiD]’s newbie kit, here’s the lovely, slightly battered skin that’s available free for new avatars.  You get the skin, eyelashes, eyes, a shape, a top, jeans, and even a basic girly AO.  I’ve added a tattoo from Para Designs called “Bleeding Eyes.”  The outfit was free from Pinkmare’s House.  I think it was a MM prize, but I don’t recall coz there are five lucky’s there, plus a MM board.  After about a week, I have quite a few Pinkmare’s outfits.  The hair is from Exile, which has a bunch of freebies at the mainstore.

Last, but certainly not least, I hit up Sn@tch to see what Ivey had for the new players.  Although I couldn’t find the “new player kit” at the mainstore, I did find this cute outfit, including the earrings, at the FabFree store.  The skin is a freebie from Weird Designs; I’m not sure whether you have to join the group or not, but if so, it’s free to join.  The pumps are still the new subscriber gift from Maitreya – a bunch of colors, just for slapping a subscriber board.  Nice!  The hair is the new celebration gift from Dura – again, the group is free to join.

Well, that’s about it for Kat and the Newbie Style Challenge II.  I guess I need to log in as Desiree and take care of blogging all the wonderful things the designers have been sending me!  I have a feeling I’ll be visiting Kat again soon, though.  Who knows?  She may even find herself a permanent place on this blog!   Until next time…

An Elven Angel from Pinkmare’s House

Hiya, fashion lovers.  I’m back at the old blog much sooner than I expected.  Don’t ask questions, just accept it.  😀  So, after I took off the sexy Black Haze outfit from AVid, I was in the mood for something completely different.  What better than a glowing white gown with asymmetrical wings and boots from Pinkmare’s House?  I felt like an elven angel, so I threw on some elfie ears, and voila.

Angel Whisper is a fairly recent addition to PinkMare’s inventory of affordable, well-made gothic fashions.  For only L$99 you can buy either the dress with wings and hat or the boots.  But you need both, so just go ahead and fork out the L$198 and be done with it.  😉  If you’re on a budget, you can wait to see if the dress comes up on the Midnight Mania board, lucky boards, or lucky chairs rotation, but it’s already been on the Midnight Mania once, so you might have to wait awhile.  If you don’t know what I’m talking about, TressAnn puts a different outfit in the Midnight Mania every day, and there are a bunch of lucky chairs/boards at the store as well.  If the first Midnight Mania locks early, she’ll usually put another outfit in there.  She’s so generous!

Oh, the dress also comes with a large, white, glowy hat, but I preferred to expose my elven nature and go hatless.  The hair is by Wasabi Pills – the Mimi hair – in a lovely “powder” shade.  The big jewelry is part of an outfit from Bubblez Designs called Eternity.  I thought the large, glowing white stones were a perfect addition to the glowing outfit.

As you can see, I took these pics “on location.”  I apologize for sucking at writing down where I was when I took them.  Basically, I just looked for “elven” places in the Showcase and wandered around.  Okey dokey.  Hope you enjoyed.  Until next time…

I’m Back!

I think I’m pretty much finished with RL work and ready to start my summer vacation.  I think.  I’ve been logging in periodically and seeing so much awesomeness which I didn’t have time to blog.  I’m hoping that I can start to catch up a bit now.  So, this outfit I’m showing you today is what I’ve been wearing for over a week now.  I love it so much that I didn’t want to change until I had blogged it.  Since I didn’t have time to blog, I wore it for far longer than I usually wear one outfit.  So, anyway, here it is.

During one of my short jaunts in SL, I went to the Shoe Fair and found, much to my delight, that Drakke was participating.  I’ve blogged a pair of boots that I won in the lucky chair or Midnight Mania board there a gazillion times.  Drakke makes awesome, gothy boots – ankle boots, knee boots, etc.  Check these out – they have little bird skulls and other skulls on them, plus other do-dads to jazz them up like beads and feathers and leather cords.  Nice!  Those elfie ears I picked up at Scribble’s big sale.  They were dirt cheap and are completely modifiable.  The top is my fave new clothing piece.  It’s the Jerry Lee top from LouLou&Co and it’s not so new now, but it’s still so cute and sexy.  I totally want one of these in RL.  You’ll see why when I show you a back view.  The pants are part of an outfit I won in PinkMare’s Midnight Mania board.  If you’re gothy, you should be slapping that bad boy daily coz TressAnn loads it up with something new every damned day!  I’m not sure, but I think that the most common name in my inventory is now PinkMare’s.  The skin also makes me so so very happy.  It’s new (like only a few days old!) from Iki at Violent Seduction.  Yep, Iki made more skins!  And these are gorgeously gothy!  You will be seeing me wearing these for quite a while.  (Ploom also released new skins yesterday; I *love* those, too!  Choice, choices!  I’ll just have to alternate between the two, I guess. :D)

Don’t you love the back of the Jerry Lee top?  Suspenders that act as straps!  Fantastic!  Jerry Lee comes in lots of other colors, too, but this one was available for a very special price at the Deranged Dealers event.  I say “was” coz I’m not sure if it’s still there.  But no matter, these are worth the purchase even at full price.  The hair ornament is also rather new from LouLou&Co.  It’s beautifully sculpted and would work really well with fairy avatars, too.  The arm tattoo is from Para Designs and was a weekend sale item awhile back.  The bracelet is a hunt gift from Forsaken for the Darkness Within Hunt.  Finally, the necklace is a hunt gift from Collisions for the Supernatural Hunt.

Are you wondering about my feathered friend?  Well, I’ve mentioned before that I just love crows.  I knew there must be someplace on the grid where I could get a realistic crow shoulder pet.  So, I searched the Marketplace and happily found this little baby at Wynx’s Wearable Pets.  He’s actually a Raven, but that’s close enough for me.  He perches on your shoulder or arm (the latter position comes with a built in holding animation); when you click him, he squawks and flaps his wings; and he responds to a fly command in local chat.  He’ll fly a few laps around you.  Love it!

Beauty Killer Goes a Little More Gothy

Kevinn Draconia of Beauty Killer recently went on a remodeling binge.  And he remodeled not only his store, but also his wares.  Beauty Killer, which previously was known primarily for punk attire, especially those with a hot pink tone (kind of like Barbie on crack) has gone goth.  His inaugural goth outfit is a *huge* gothic gown with a battleship skirt, cobwebs, and spiders, called Haunted.  Kevinn’s prices have never been exorbitant, but recently he had a sale, so I grabbed Haunted.  Take a look.

I don’t think Kevinn had ever done a gown before, so I am quite impressed with his first effort.  The prim work is really well done, and the little sculpted spiders are too cute.  Haunted comes with a corset top and a shrug-type jacket.  Here I’m wearing just the corset bodice.  Long, black fabric, ornamented with a little spider flows from the arm bands.  Here’s another set of pics showing the jacket.

I love the crown, don’t you?  That’s not part of the Haunted outfit, but it’s free in Beauty Killer’s Midnight Mania board right now.  Get a good look at that corset, by the way.  The lacings, eyelets, bow, and fabric are made well enough to withstand close scrutiny.  Bravo, Kevinn!  Now, if you notice the seam at the jacket/pants line, that is probably my fault for not wearing the panty layer.  I also could have/should have raised the skirt to hide the seam line.  In any case, don’t be so damned picky that you let that bother you.  This is a lovely gothic gown. 🙂

Just a day or so ago, Beauty Killer released another new outfit, Emilie, an homage to the much-admired Emilie Autumn.  The signature piece of this outfit is the sculpted corset with lacings on the back.  I am quite impressed with it. 🙂  Click the pic to get a good view of those lacings, ‘k?

With an Emilie Autumn inspired outfit, I was expecting a burlesque style skirt, but these hotpants are awfully cute.  The mismatched striped stockings and the patchwork heart are two elements of Ms. Autumn’s signature style that Kevinn has captured well.  The collar and fingerless gloves also come with the outfit.  The shoes are from PinkMare’s House – these aren’t sold separately but are part of the Pretend Bride outfit.  The hair is from Magika, which I blogged with the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser and Help Japan items earlier this week.  Of course the skin is Mynerva’s new Kia.

So, if you’ve never been to Beauty Killer or haven’t been in awhile, you owe it to yourself to wander over for a visit.  The build is nice and gothy and there are several lucky boards with older items, one with past hunt gifts.  Maybe I’ll see you there. 😉

Mynerva’s New Kia Skins

As I teased a bit yesterday, Mynerva has released a base makeup of the recent group gift skins in 8 tones.  These skins are not completely bare, but are designed with the idea that you’ll add your own tattoo layer makeups.  Rhapzody will be making some makeups for them, but for the moment, you’re on your own.  If you’re like me, you probably have plenty of tattoo layer makeups.  Isn’t it fun trying those on different base skins?  I love doing that!  I also have a tip or two about where you can get some free or dollarbie tattoo makeups that look great on the Mynerva skins.  But first, let’s take a look at the skins in the lightest tone.

I really love these skins for the face, and to be honest, I barely look at my avatar’s skins past the cleavage.  But the shading on the body of Kia is very pretty.  Each tone comes with several bosom options – A cup, B cup, etc., and a full cleavage option;  you also get the option of brows or no brows.  This gives Rhapzody the ability to add different brow options on the tattoo layer.  Remember, these are meant to be a base skin for you to add layers to.  I can’t wait until Phoenix supports multiple tattoo layers.  Ok, here are all 8 tones of Kia.

The tones are numbered from lightest to darkest.  My favorite is actually Tone 2 because it has a rosy hue to it.  In each pic above, I’m wearing the options with brows and full cleavage.  Ok, how about some makeup?

The top four makeups are all from Mynerva.  Rhapzody had made them for another one of her skins, but I think they look just perfect with Kia.  The top two (left to right) makeups are Mynerva’s Dusk and Mynerva’s Smoky Onyx with Mid Eyeliner.  The middle two are Mynerva’s Raven Smoke with Eyeliner, and Mynerva’s Raven Smoke with Double Wing Eyeliner.  The bottom two are from Mock Cosmetics – Mock’s Violet Bright Lights and Mock’s Champagne Foiled.  Conveniently, Mocksoup Grave’s makeups are now located in a wing of Mynerva’s main store.  Better yet, these two makeups are both either free or a dollar right now.  You don’t even need to join a group.  There’s also a cosmetics bag for L$1 that you can wear, plus it holds a few more makeups.  Just for fun, I tried on some other tattoo layer makeups to see how they’d fit with my new favorite skin.  I had several from Kyoot and from Amacci.  Let’s see how those look on Kia.

The top two are Amacci’s Divine Silver and Divine Gray eye makeups.  The bottom left is Amacci’s Divine Turquoise, and the bottom right is Kyoot’s Feline Soft Brown.  Aren’t they cute?  I can’t wait until Rhapzody makes some makeups for them, especially coz I love how she does lipstick, but for now, these’ll do nicely. 🙂

I blogged PinkMare’s House a few months ago, and TressAnn’s shop has become one of my daily shopping stops.  Yes, I said “daily.”  Why?  Because every day TressAnn puts a different outfit in her Midnight Mania board.  Basically, if you wait long enough, that outfit that you don’t have the lindens for may just be yours for free.  But, really, can’t you scare up L$99?  That’s the basic price for most items at PinkMare’s.  They’re so affordable, it’s scary!  So, although nothing that I am showing you today is the current Midnight Mania gift, you can still get each of these dresses/outfits at a very reasonable price.  I’ll start with my favorite – a sexy, strappy number.

Oh my goodness, right?!  Midnight Seduction comes with the hat and the sculpted sleeves.  The boots are free if you join *COCO*’s group.  They’re not a new gift, but all the gifts are on a table against the wall.  Tons of stuff!  I just loved this so much that I didn’t want to take it off and ended up putting it back on several times.  Best of all, it was free!  I love the straps and the nipple tape.  If you want to be really daring, you can forego the nipple tape since it comes on a separate layer.  The earrings worn here are LouLou&Co’s Hesperide earrings in purple.  They were on sale this weekend.  The bracelets are LouLou&Co’s Twisted Hunt gift.  Love them!

My next favorite outfit that I won from PinkMare’s MM board is this dress with an open heart and broken heart dolly key.

Check out that open area that shows my poor little broken heart.  Awwww!  Look at that awesome dolly key with broken hearts!  (Really – click to make the pic bigger so you can really see it!)  It’s too damned cute for words.  Oh, the outfit also comes with a bloody knife with stabby motions.  I couldn’t stop the darned thing and had to take it off.  lol  It was quite realistically trying to kill anyone around me.  This outfit is called Unloved Malice Doll.  It also comes with those prim blood tears – so cool!  I notice that the bodice in the closeup looks a bit blurry.  I’m sure it was SL being a butt-pain and not Ms. Decosta’s texturing.  Look, it comes with stripey stockings, too.  I love stripey stockings!

Here’s another sexy outfit from PinkMare’s – the Nightwish dress.

Yep, this one is also not for the faint of heart (or the shy or modest).  You’ll bear your breast, but the modesty nipple tape will take care of most of the naughty bits.  Again, the nipple tape comes on a separate layer in case you want to go a little barer.  Once again, no complaints here! The boots with the straps (I should have totally worn them with the Midnight Seduction outfit!) are from Malfean Visions which always seems to have really nice boots on sale (usually for L$60).  I grabbed these Strapped In boots on sale recently.   This cute hair is an older style from Dura.  It’s so feminine – I love it!

Ok, I have one more to show you.  This one is a bit different from the others.  It’s a gothic gown.

I wanted to catch the gown in motion because the black crinoline overskirt has a white lace underskirt that looks so pretty when you move.  I did a pretty good job of capturing some of the motion, I think.  I like the sculpted little floral details at the waistline and the shirred fabric on the bodice.  Oh, the hair is from a new-to-me (but probably not to you) shop – ( R E D )MINT.  I knew they made skins, but I didn’t know they did hair.  I saw this in the shop and had to have it.  The elf ears came with the hair, too!  ( R E D )MINT does great white textured hair.  If you wear white shades, you know how difficult it is to find really well-textured white hair.

You know, I actually tried to blog hours ago, but WordPress was broken.  So, I feel like I’m really rushing this post coz it’s freaking late and I need to get to bed.  If I make any huge faux pas, please don’t be too unkind, ‘k? 🙂

Ravens Everywhere!

I have a secret admiration for crows.  They’re beautifully, lustrously black.  They’re loud and raucous.  They’re enormous and athletic.  I want a pet crow that would perch on my shoulder.  I’m talking about real life here. lol  Seriously.  So, naturally, in SL I’m always drawn to anything with birds, especially crows or their cousins-on-steroids — ravens.  Tonight I have two items to show you with raven motifs.  One is Dilly Dolls’ gift for the Twisted Hunt – Freddi’s Raven, an awesome pair of color-changeable boots adorned with ravens.

These boots are free in the Twisted Hunt, but here’s the catch – it’s a limited time hunt prize only for the first week of the hunt.  After that, Oriana will be changing out the gift.  I’m not sure if she’s doing this every week of the hunt or just for the first week.  But you know what that means, you’ll have to go to Dilly Dolls at least twice. 🙂  As I said, these boots are color change – you can change the tint and the texture to get various colors, and the laces and holes are also changeable.  I paired up these boots with a great outfit I won in PinkMare’s lucky chair.

This is the Ringmaster’s Daughter outfit and it’s still the lucky chair prize as of press time.  TressAnn changes the Midnight Mania prize every day (!) so you have to be quick if you want to grab the daily gift, but the lucky chair prizes don’t change out as often, so you still have time to grab this cutie.  I’m wearing the same Dilly Dolls boots, this time tinted green and textured brown.  Nice, huh?  The Ringmaster’s Daughter comes with the top hat, the very nice and frilly choker with skully accent, a multi-layered and multi-colored (green, black, brown) skirt, and bloomers – basically everything you see me wearing except for the skin, hair, and boots.  TressAnn is sooooo generous!  Oh, and if I recall correctly, the chair changes letters every 5 minutes, so you don’t even have to stalk it very long.  (And there are plenty of wildcards, too.)

Well, I said at the beginning of this post that this would be about ravens – plural.  Yesterday, A Netherworld released this nice raven motif tee dress for Woeful Wednesday.  The Raven Moon T-Dress may still be available at the discounted price.  Even if it’s not, the regular prices at A Netherworld are very affordable.  Plus, you’ll want to go upstairs and stalk the lucky chair coz there’s a sexy goth/punk pants outfit in there – skinny leather pants and corseted tops in gothy prints (you get several colors in the pack).  I was going to show them to you, but I’m trying to make my posts shorter so I can do more of them. 😀  Anyway, here’s the Raven Moon dress.

Love this image on the dress!  Oooo foggy evening, full moon, and a raven perched in a dead tree.  Awesome!  And they match the boots so well!  Too cool for school!  Ok, that’s it for me.  It’s a school night.  sigh.

PinkMare’s House

I love PinkMare’s House and if you love goth/dolly fashion, so will you.  Every day, TressAnn Decosta puts a different outfit in her Midnight Mania and/or Lucky Chair.  Well, maybe she doesn’t change ’em out every day, but it sure seems like it.  Plus, if you’re short on lindens, you’ve got to check her prices.  They are so reasonable!  Look at a couple outfits that were in the Midnight Mania on consecutive nights this week, plus another one I picked up for less than a L$100.

Isn’t this one fun?  It’s called Rosary and comes with the hat and the chunky cross necklace.  The textures are nice and shiny, too.  I love how the look fell together with this new hair from Emo-tions that will be available as a group gift tomorrow.  Big Curly Hair! Yum!  Here’s another view of the dress; the skirt is so big and floofy that it was hard to fit in one composite. 🙂

I’m wearing Dilly Dolls new Stella Dolly pumps; this is version II that comes with the color-change scrunched socks.  TressAnn was wearing this at her store with black combat boots and the look was even cuter, but I didn’t want to jack her style. lol

This one is called Devotions and came with the hat and the doll key (that turns!).  The white heart in the center of the key glows, but I edited it to turn off the glow for the photos.  I’m wearing the matching Devotion boots, which are sold separately.  Love this so much!   Thanks, TressAnn!  Isn’t the hair cute?  It’s a new style from ploom released this week called Penelo.  I love when Helyanwe does styles like this – stuff you don’t see *everywhere* else.  Am I right?

This outfit I thought was too damned cute and bought while hitting PinkMare’s Midnight Mania board.  Oh, TressAnn usually has boxes with items on special sale lying around, too.  I think I paid L$99 for it, but it may very well have been on sale for less.  It comes with the hat, lace choker, spattered blood tattoo, and the stuffed bunny with holding animation.  If you want to be a demented dolly, PinkMare’s House is a great place to shop!  Did you notice that every outfit I’m showing you comes with extra pieces – hats, jewelry, stuffed creatures?  That’s the case in almost everything sold at PinkMare’s.    And if you like rag doll avatars, she has quite a few of them, too.  So, get your little goth/dolly butts on over to PinkMare’s House and grab yourself some awesome fashions at bargain prices.

Hey, guys, I told you I’d be back.  This post will be a much shorter one.  I have only two really nice outfits to show you – both on sale at the Industry District’s Something Wicked This Way Comes sale event that runs through October 31st.  The first, as promised, is the halloweeny edition of Nightshade’s new Lethal dress in Rustic Pumpkin.

I *love* this color!  It’s not too bright of an orange, so you can wear it long after Halloween is over.  You can find it at Nightshade’s shop at Industry District here.  The boots were (are still?) on sale at G Field which was having a 50% off sale on select black and orange items.  I picked up a bunch of stuff I didn’t know I needed there, like these Emma Short Belt(ed) Boots.  I love G Field’s footwear so much!

Ok, next up is a cute as pie dress from PinkMare’s House – the Sweet Twisted Eve dress in this fun green stripe.
