Number 500!

Yep, I have reached a milestone in my blogging “career” – 500 posts!  And what better way to celebrate than to give Des a day off? 😉  So, here’s little Kat, bringing you a beautiful gothic lolita dress from a new to me store called Adoness.

I picked up this cutie at the Black Market for only L$100.  The Black Market is a monthly sale event that includes beaucoup fabulous designers, each offering two items – one for L$100, and one for L$40.  The designers run the gamut from horror, to dolly, to mainstream fashion, so there’s something for everyone.  As I said, I couldn’t pass up this pretty lolita dress.  I’ve added some pretty new skin called Farra and matching ears from [VoiD], some awesome hooves and bracelets from Death Row Designs, and some beautiful hair from Wasabi Pills.  The hair bow comes with the Adoness outfit, which is called LilaBellis, by the way.  If you like what you see, please visit the designers listed below!

I’m a Silly Bunny

I hadn’t planned on blogging more Easter stuff today, but then I had some time, and I had this tres cute Easter outfit I bought yesterday, on sale for Taste of SL, from AlterEgo, so here ya go!

As you can see, I went a little nuts in FotoFlexer adding little Eastery stickers. 🙂  The outfit comes with the collar, bracelets, backpack, bunny ears and tail, eyeshadow on the tattoo layer, mouth carrot, and the stompers.  I thought it was a great deal at only L$150 and rushed right over when I saw the ad!  I searched my ginormous inventory for Easter and “bunny” things, and added the katat0nik katty bunny doll, the Sanu monocle (picked up at one of her wonderful old hunts), and a couple of necklaces from Earthstones and Eyecandy, as well as Easter pink eyes and bunny piercings from [VoiD], formerly Edge of Sanity, and bunny teeth from Mynerva.  The hair is a subscriber gift from Magika – it’s a deep fuschia with lighter pink at the tips.  You have to go to the store and touch the sign to receive it.  And here’s a closeup!

My skin is the new limited edition Grace skin in the Harajuku Fun makeup from [A] Limited.  It’s a different makeup from the one Little Kat wore earlier today.  The eyeshadow on this skin is pink and green, so the tattoo layer makeup from AlterEgo evened it out to just pink.  Oh, I’m also wearing some lipgloss from [VoiD], part of the new Farra skins which are on sale for only L$150 per pack (per makeup/tone with lots of extras thrown in) for the rest of today.  I bought the skins for Little Kat’s shape and they look precious on her.  I  wanted to wear my Harajuku skin for this post though. 🙂

Well, that’s really about it.  I have tons more to blog, but I need to take a break for RL coz I’ve been  putting off my grading/studying, and I only have one more day of vacation left. (*pouts*)  I’ll be back as soon as I can though.  Do your best to muddle through without me. (lols)

+++Blue Blood+++ Nina for Horror Haute

Have you heard of Horror Haute?  It’s a monthly sale event that occurs during the last week of the month, showcasing dark and creepy stuff.  But, not everything is horrific, some of the items offered are just goth, and some are even cute. lol  But Ghani’s offering from Blue Blood is girly and goth at the same time.  I’ll show you what I mean.

How cute is this?!  But look closely coz amidst that colorful, flirty outfit are hands covered in dried blood!  Yes, that’s Horror Haute, baby!  I had to wear my awesome Bax boots coz, hey, I paid a fortune for them, and you’re going to have to look at them a few times at least. lol  The piercings are again from HoD, for Horror Haute, but I’ve changed from the silver color to the pomegranate to better matchy matchy.  Speaking of matching, I squealed with delight when I put on this Anarin hair, the newest release from ploom.  New to the ploom line are these cool, streaked, almost-neon colors.  They just sealed the “look” of this outfit for me!  I wish I had taken a pic of the back of this hairstyle.  It has a low-slung pony in back, and the streaked colors look so pretty running throughout.  My cute lolipop and tongue, as well as the poses are from Lolapop (heh, heh – lolipop/lolapop!) for the Starlust Gacha Carnaval.  And would you believe that I had no idea that the HoD piercing included a tongue piercing!  Imagine my surprise when my mouth popped open and voila!  another piercing!  Coool.  Ah, one last thing – those purty purple eyes – they were free with the rez day gift that Boo gave out a few weeks ago for VoiD group members.  Well, hope you enjoyed.  If so, run over to Blue Blood and nab this little number at a very special price before Horror Haute ends.  You’ve got until the 31st!  Oh, just a heads up – Blue Blood *just* moved – be sure to grab the new LM below!

Limping Along on my Craptop

Hello, all you lovely people.  Yes, I am still without a desktop or a computer of any kind that can adequately run SL.  It’s very frustrating to say the least.  For example, I managed to get quite a few of the prizes from a recent hunt, but was unable to take pictures before the hunt ended. lol  Talk about spinning one’s wheels.  So, I’ll continue to limp along until my new Aurora desktop from Alienware comes in.

So, I was able to take some pics of Blue Blood’s newest release, the fabulous Ivonne dress.  You’ll forgive the obvious low quality of my pictures, I hope.

Yep, this is me (Des) and not little Kat.  Actually, it is Kat, but in Des’ shape. The Ivonne dress is quite the bargain because it comes with three different skirt styles for utmost versatility.  This is the flirty lolita skirt.  The jacket is also on a separate layer, so you can choose to wear the dress without the jacket.  One thing I love about Ghani’s designs is that she always creates stocking tops or garters unique to each outfit.  It’s that attention to detail that makes her so special as an SL artist.  Want some details about my outfit?  Well, the hair was the hunt item from Hair Shop Nodoka for the Café Hunt, and the ribbon necklace with color change rose and pearls was the gift from Lassitude & Ennui for the same hunt.  (Yeah, that’s the one that just ended that I referenced above.)  The Gothika skin is a recent gift from [VoiD].  The hot little pink booties were the lucky chair (or board) gift from Crystal line.  The lucky is group only, but the group is free to join.  Crystal line also has several group gifts available in store, including the drop earrings worn above.

Bubblez Designs, Haus of Darcy, and Gifts and Sales from around the Grid

Bubblez Designs has some really nice items out right now, and I thought I’d show them to you, along with lots of freebies and sale items that I picked up in the last few days.  This is the time of year for gifts, and boy, have our designer friends been generous!

First up is a gorgeous new outfit from Bubblez, which is *not* free, but is a total bargain for all you get.  The Blood Rose outfit comes with the dress with lots of sculpted embellishments, gloves, legcuffs, earrings, shoes (not the ones I’m wearing though), and the hair with ornaments.  It also comes with the hair ornaments separate so that you can wear your own hair with it.  It’s easily resizeable, too.  The Bubblez Doll Shoes are not part of this outfit, but they are another new release from that store.  The shoes that come with the dress are pretty, but they’re flats and I prefered the way these cut-out heel shoes with lace socks looked with the dress.

Aren’t the shoes cute?  And they come in lots of other colors, too, besides this Blood Rose pair.  You can also get a closer look at the beautiful sculpted rose and chains adornments on the outfit.  So cool!  The skin I’m wearing is a recent gift from [VoiD] – check the notices for the “Share the Love” gift.  I’ve added the makeup tattoo from the Gala Phoenix group gift coz I love love those red lips!  I’ve also added new piercings from Haus of Darcy, which has lots of newness out right now.  HoD also has done new colors for their piercings – like a pretty pomegranate, green, purple, and blue.  I’m wearing the Lisbeth piercing in the color called Seep (red).  The green Starlight eyes are a Christmas gift from the Plastik.

Next up is a L$12 Fur Vest from Bubblez, with which I’ve created a LOTD.  I never do those (mostly coz they’re time consuming to put together), but some recent additions to my inventory just begged me to throw them together.  So, here I’m wearing a very cool mesh skirt from Aura, which is having a sale right now.  It comes in lots of colors, and with or without the skull on the side.  Love that skirt!  The awesome boots are from the hot, new store Death Row Designs.  These are the Boundcuffed Chain boots in black.  They come in tons of other dirty colors, too.  They’re messy and worn and totally cool.  You gotta love boots with handcuffs, am I right?  😀  The shirt worn under the fur vest is from Roots, the clothing annex of RedMint, which is also having a huge sale right now.  The skull top (which is for guys, I think, but worked for me under the vest), also comes with the ripped, chained gloves and a hoodie.

The beautiful skin is a special Christmas makeup of Illusory’s Paige skin line.  It’s available as part of the Year End Sale at Illusory, Aura, Cheeky Pea, and a few other stores working together.  The necklaces (I’m wearing two) are from Forsaken – the red one is the Biohazard Batty necklace, and the longer one is the Key to the Beyond Necklace.  The hair is also relatively new – this is Wasabi Pills’ Clementine style which has a color-change hairtie. Unfortunately, SL was being stupid for me and not allowing me to change the color of the hairband.  It was no big deal though since I was wearing black and grey anyway. 🙂  Finally, the piercings are again from Haus of Darcy, this is a reworking of the popular Crow’s Crux piercing set.  Aydan has added new colors, including this pretty red Seep color.  The piercing comes with and without the crow feather dangling from your mouth.

Finally, I have one more LOTD outfit to show you, again built around an item from Bubblez Designs.

This is the relatively new Bubblez Winter Jacket in a nicely done black leather.  It includes the cute chained tie, and also comes with a version without the tie, and the tie separately.  You can mix and match to your heart’s content.  The teensy, barely there, mini is another sale item from Roots – the high waisted mini jeans set.  The Death Row Designs boots here are the blue version of the Boundcuffed Chained boots.  The hair is part of Exile’s Christmas subscribo gift.  I think this is meant to be a guy’s style, but I love it!  The skin is the Curio group gift Angel skin, worn in the Moonbeam tone.  I have to say that I love the skin, but I wish it had darker eyebrows!  This is the “dark” version, too!  I tried to find an eyebrow tattoo in my inventory, to no avail.  But, I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, so thank you Gala; I love the skin, especially the makeup tattoo with the full, red lips!  The earrings are part of Emo-tions’ Christmas gifts, which (sadly) have been removed.  Yep, the tree is gone, and poor little Kat didn’t get a chance to grab them.  One last item to mention is the third new release piercing from Haus of Darcy.  This is the Reach Piercing set in the green color called Tide.  It took me quite awhile to fit the separate pieces, but I think it was totally worth it.  HoD makes the coolest piercings, don’t they?

Holiday Gift from Gothic Passionate Dreams

Saur Holt of Gothic Passionate Dreams has put out a free dress for the holidays.  Best of all, it’s not green and red!  It’s a lovely black lace and satin gothic gown!

I was very pleased with the elegance of the dress, and did I mention it’s free? 🙂  The hair is from lamb and is called Phenomena.  I picked it up at Collabor88.  It comes with a shaved head hairbase, but I preferred it with a normal hairbase.  The little red rose is a freebie at SoliDea FoliEs; I went there looking for a sale item (that I missed – pouts), but found a truly gorgeous sim that I am sure to revisit.  The very spiked collar is from Haus of Darcy’s recent release, the Draconic Girl Collection.  Now, the skin.  I love when I get a random, out of the blue IM from a designer saying something along the lines of “want to see what I’m working on?”  My response is always the same – “do I?!!”  Such an event occurred Tuesday night when False Imako of Void chatted me up and gave me a sneak preview of her not-yet-released skins and new store.  This is the Hawk skin in the Natural tone with a new makeup called Frost.  The Hawk line features tintable eyebrows so you can match your hairtone.  Ms. Imako, a/k/a Boo, will be releasing several new makeups for Hawk.  Plus, she’s made some significant upgrades to the body – including glow!  I should really have stripped down to show you what a great job Boo has done with these skins.  But for now, you can get a little peak of Hawk by finding the prize for the Twilight Saga Hunt.  It’s a version of Hawk with makeup that pays homage to Alice Cullen.  It has little vampire teeth and is quite lovely!  Thank you so much, Boo, for treating me to a sneak peak!

Newbie Style Challenge II

So, I feel kinda bad coz ever since I read that Gogo was doing another Newbie Style Challenge, I’ve been practically AWOL as Desiree.  I love creating new avatars, but since LL did away with last names, I was not thrilled with being BlanketyBlank Resident.  Ewwww.  What a horrible development.  But Gogo tipped us all off that the Library of Birmingham’s entrance portal still has names available.  That was all I needed to decide that the challenge was on!

I rezzed inworld as Katastrophic Hurricane (lol) on November 5th and have been having so much fun ever since.  Nothing like a new challenge to rev up one’s SL, huh?  The challenge is to create a new avatar and spend no more than L$550 to pimp him or her out.  Because freebie challenges have gotten a bad rap – designers depend on people spending lindens, not just grabbing freebies all the time – Gogo encouraged people to spend a little.  I have spent some lindens on Kat – a total of L$159 so far, but honestly, for this post, I spent only about L$10, thanks to gridwide hunts, lucky chairs, midnight manias, group gifts, and the wonderful FabFree store.

This is my favorite of the new looks.  The skin is available at the FabFree store from Imagen – it’s an older skin, but I’ve always loved the Lia skins.  I added tattoo layer makeup from MOCK, also free at the FabFree store.  I picked up the shape, which I’m wearing throughout this post, from Salt and Pepper for the Mushroom Hunt.  The cute necklace is also a Mushroom Hunt gift – this one from EY:NO.   I have to say that I’ve fallen in love with this quirky little shape.  My daughter, who is an art student, swears that this face is completely unrealistic – the features are too large for the head, but I don’t care.  There’s just something so wistful and sad, and a bit alien about her.  As I pointed out to her, SL avatars don’t have to be realistic!

My next look is thanks to the lucky board at Blue Blood.  I stalked those boards for quite a few hours, I must admit, trying to get this pink version.  Yes, very funny coz I’m Blue Blood’s “official” blogger – I update the store blog, and I could have easily just asked Ghani for the dresses, but that wouldn’t have been fair.  One of the challenge’s rules is that you cannot get your designer friends to give you stuff.  The shoes are the latest subscriber welcome gift from G Field, by the way.  I don’t think I have these for Desiree!  The cute hair is the Snow White hair from Bubblez Designs, available at the Bloggers R Us shop.  The skin is a brand new group gift from [VoiD], and I’ve added tattoo eyemakeup and lipstick layers, also available from [VoiD].  I admit the makeup was a gift from False Imako of VoiD.  I thanked her for putting out a newbie kit for those under 30 days old, and I asked her where the tattoo layer makeups were located, and voila, she gave me these!  Since I didn’t “request” the items, I’m going to use them!  (*sticks out tongue*)

Speaking of [VoiD]’s newbie kit, here’s the lovely, slightly battered skin that’s available free for new avatars.  You get the skin, eyelashes, eyes, a shape, a top, jeans, and even a basic girly AO.  I’ve added a tattoo from Para Designs called “Bleeding Eyes.”  The outfit was free from Pinkmare’s House.  I think it was a MM prize, but I don’t recall coz there are five lucky’s there, plus a MM board.  After about a week, I have quite a few Pinkmare’s outfits.  The hair is from Exile, which has a bunch of freebies at the mainstore.

Last, but certainly not least, I hit up Sn@tch to see what Ivey had for the new players.  Although I couldn’t find the “new player kit” at the mainstore, I did find this cute outfit, including the earrings, at the FabFree store.  The skin is a freebie from Weird Designs; I’m not sure whether you have to join the group or not, but if so, it’s free to join.  The pumps are still the new subscriber gift from Maitreya – a bunch of colors, just for slapping a subscriber board.  Nice!  The hair is the new celebration gift from Dura – again, the group is free to join.

In a Land Where Every Day Can Be Halloween

On November 1st, I was feeling a bit sad because the Halloween season was over.  There were so many wonderful outfits that I didn’t get the chance to blog.  But then, I realized that this is SL – every day can be Halloween if we want.  And, honestly, I dress for Halloween every day.  I’m always costumed in some way.  I change my makeup, my skin, my hair.  That sounds like Halloween to me.  😀

So, I searched for a place called “Halloween,” and the first landmark that came up was a sim called, yep you guessed it – Halloween.  That’s where I took the following pictures.

Isn’t this a lovely dress?  It’s from Deviance and it’s called the Wonderland Dress.  It comes in many, many colors, but this “pumpkin” color was (maybe still is) on sale.  The dress comes with two skirts – one with the white apron (worn above) and one without.  You also get two slightly different pairs of stockings – the one I’m wearing with the black stripes at the top, and one that’s all orange/white.  I’m wearing hair from ploom released for Halloween in crazy colors and with a color-change streak.  I’m wearing a gorgeous choker and matching earrings and bracelet that I picked up on sale at Malfean Visions.  The orange bracelets I’m wearing are from LouLou&Co., another Halloween release that may still be available.  U&R Dogs also had a Halloween gift out – pretty orange nails with rings.  Finally, the shoes are a recent release from Malfean – the Marilyn Janes.

You would probably never guess that the skin I’m wearing is from LAQ – the new release Tekla skin.  I’ve added the same combination of makeups that I did in my last post – eye makeup from Kyoot, cheekbone contouring from Cheap Makeup, and lipstick with fangs from [VoiD].  Playing with tattoo layer makeups is so much fun!   You can also get a closer look at Deviance’s dress – the texture is so pretty and looks “shiny,” almost like sequins or maybe a plush velvet.  I really want more colors of this pretty dress!

Rotten Toe – For Your Halloween Costuming Needs

Yeah, post titles suck.  I notice the trend is to name one’s post after the song one is listening to at the moment.  I hate that, honestly.  I think post titles should have at least *something* to do with the post.  But anywho…. (beware…rant coming…scroll past if you just want to see the purty pictures) I hate SL.  Ok, that’s not entirely true.  I hate the new mesh viewers and what they’re doing to my SL.  Why the hell did the powers that be rush mesh into the mainstream before the viewers were ready?  Why am I so p.o.’d at the moment?  Well, because I’ve been wearing the same outfits for over a week now, trying to get SL to work so that I could blog them.  First, I had a problem rezzing mesh – using the Firestorm Mesh viewer.  WTF?  Then when I shifted to the SL 3.whatever viewer, my eyes were bugged out.  Try to take a nice fashion photo when your eyeballs are floating past your bottom lids.  And I read the wikis, jiras, whatever, and tried the fixes they recommended.  Nothing helped.  It just makes it really hard to be a responsible blogger when you can’t freaking take pictures to blog.  Sigh.  (ok, rant over…)

So, Rotten Toe released some cute dresses, eyes, and a skin for Halloween.  I love Rotten Toe – the textures are damn-near perfect, the styles are always exactly what I want and unusual enough to pique my interest.  Here’s the first dress I’ll show you, simply called Halloween Dress.

It is quite Halloweeny, but some of us dress like this all year round. 😀  I love the sculpted skulls above the bows at the waist, and I love the gartered tights.  Yes, they are purple.  I double checked my worn tab coz the other release from Rotten Toe is a purple dress, and I thought I’d forgotten to remove the tights, but no, this dress comes with purple tights.  I’m wearing an old release from Lapointe and Bastchild – the awesome Gothic Platform Boots.  That’s because the Dilly Dolls boots that I wanted to wear (a newer item) would not load (see previous rant).  But that’s ok – with apologies to Oriana Kuhr, who tried to help me with my rezzing problems – these L&B boots are kickass.  The bloody tattoo and cute wittle batwing tophat are from Forsaken – a new favorite store of mine for cool accessories.  The necklace is rather new from Lolapop, which is (still, I think) having an in-store hunt for Halloween themed jewelry.  The earrings are pretty old – they’re from Perturb/ation, which I’m not sure even still exists.  But they made the most amazing gothic jewelry at very reasonable prices.

Here’s a closeup to show you all the amazing jewelry, etc.  The bracelet and mouthie is fromLouLou&C0. – so much awesome in that store, I can’t help drooling.  The hair is from Vanity, which is such a hit or miss store for me.  Usually, the styles are so outlandish that they’re just not for me.  But then, every now and then, she releases something just perfect for me.  That’s because she’s always trying to design something unusual and different.  I admire that so much, don’t you?  This style is a recent release called Mimmi and I love how the front strands frame my cheekbones.  I had to add some cheekbone contouring makeup from Cheap Makeup, that I admit I saw blogged by someone else.  I love cheekbones, so I had to go grab this.  And while we’re on the subject of skin, this is a very recent group gift from [VoiD], called Candy – Bare.  Since it is a bare skin, I added tons of tattoo layer makeups to enhance it.  Let’s see – eye makeup from Kyoot (from the Feline series – old), the aforementioned cheek contouring makeup, and a lipstick from [VoiD] called Lil Vamp – you get fangs (which are partially hidden by my LouLou&Co. Pussycat Mouthchain).  Oh, you also get a much better look at these beautiful eyes, called Glassy Eyes (blue) from Rotten Toe.

Man, I’m long-winded!  Does anyone even read all this stuff I write? lol  Anyway, here’s the other Halloween outfit from Rotten Toe – the PuffPuff Dress.

Cute, no?!  It comes with options, too, as you’ll see in the next pic.  But first, some details – the boots are from Gos – they were the FLF item last week.  The necklace is from GField, part of her Halloween subscribo gift (also comes with a dress), and the colorful skin is the new release from Blue Blood’s skin line, Matrioska, called Fae Skin.  I’m so excited that Ghani has branched into skin making!

I’m also wearing last week’s new hair from ploom (see previous rant about why I’m so late), called Mina.  I also added some bracelets/cuffs from LouLou&Co – the Crepuscule set.  These aren’t new,  but there are plenty of discount offerings from LouLou&Co right now in a similar vein.  (See previous comment about LouLou&Co and how droolworthy everything there is.)  Ok, I saved the next shot for last so that my bewbs wouldn’t be plastered across the feeds.  Hopefully, this will fall after a “cut.”

This is a different skirt for the PuffPuff Dress – it has a black bustle instead of a purple one, and I’ve removed the undershirt and worn the pasties instead.  If you want to be daring – this is the option for you!  😀  Check out that texturing on the corset – how there’s a fade to checkered beneath the floral design – gorgeous work!

As I’ve said many times before, once upon a time, I was a kitteh in SL.  I used to love my fluffy tail and twitchy ears.   I still wear them occasionally just for fun, but they’re no long part of my SL identity.  Whenever I see the sexy/cute outfits at LoveCats, I get all nostalgic about those fun times.  But contrary to the name, LoveCats isn’t strictly a neko store.  LoveCat Thei makes beautiful, well-made outfits to fit almost any SL taste.  She even makes quite a few items for the boyz, and we know how rare that is in SL!

Tonight I’ll show you one of my favorites of her latest releases – Amelia.

I love me a bit of black satin adorned with torn lace, straps, fringe, and metal grommets – so sexy.  All LoveCats releases start off at L$250 for the first 24 hours.  Forgive me if this post is too late for you to get the sale price.  But every outfit comes with extras – in this case, the collar, fluffy sleeves, and the boots are all included.  These are niiiiice boots, too.  Hell, I’ve paid over L$250 for boots like these alone.  And take a closer look – you’ll see that Ms. Thei’s textures are top-notch.

To go with this hot look, I threw on a group gift from [VoiD] – a special advance peek at her latest New Generation skin – Candy.  I fell in love, of course.  And since the skin was quite bare, but had good “bones,” I was able to add some tattoo layer lipstick with fangs from [VoiD], as well as some pretty silvery eye makeup from Virtual/Insanity.  The fangy lipsticks are available for cheap at [VoiD]’s booth at the Spooky You event.  If you haven’t been to that, run coz it’s awesome!  The hair is a brand new release from Wasabi Pills – the Kimmy hair.  It’s a great fantasy style “do” with the ponytails framing the face.  I also thought some piercings were in order, so I added Haus of Darcy’s Bulletproof chest piercings, available at the Perfect Wardrobe – the newest designer discount shop to hit SL.
