Do you know Vaxer?

Well, you should, especially if you’re into gothic or Gorean fashion.  I first found them on the Marketplace while searching for goth attire.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have quite a few items on special on the Marketplace, so I had to pay them a visit inworld.  I was very pleased by what I found there.  There is a members-only Midnight Mania board, plus a group gift (new as of yesterday), plus members-only specials.  Best of all, the group is free to join and you don’t even have to search for the join kiosk coz you’ll get a pop-up message when you arrive asking if you’d like to join the group.  I automatically click no to those, usually, but this is one for which I was grateful for the invite.  Let’s take a look at a recent Midnight Mania special.  Now, it’s no longer the outfit du jour, but you’ll at least get an idea of the designs available at Vaxer.

One thing I like about Vaxer is that most outfits come with jewelry and footwear included.  That’s a plus, especially for newer players.  This outfit, Zmeu, comes with the necklace, the floral ring, and the boots.  My earrings are the same as the one in my previous post – the Prelude set from +:+WTG+:+.  My hair is a recent release from Wasabi Pills – the Dominique mesh hair – gorgeous, as always.  Okay, let’s take a peak at the latest group gift from Vaxer.

Ooh la la!  This one is definitely one for the dominatrixes out there.  Again, it comes with all of the pieces shown – the collar, leg band, the thigh high boots, and the arm guards – yep, everything you need to look like a badazz bitch. (lol)  Oh, the chained bracelet is not included, but it’s also free – it’s the April group gift from Dark Mouse called “Old Bangles.”  Of course, I had to wear my new favorite curly do from analog dog – Sine in the goth black color.  I also added some ultra-goth makeup from Nomine to my Redmint skin.  The makeup is def not new, but it should be in every gothling’s inventory.  As always, if you want to see these pics larger, just click on them because my pics are always ginormous.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone!  I had to post one more outfit from the Gypset Market coz it’s really amazing, too.  (I’m referring to my last post about the amazing Chrysalis outfit).  This one is from Angel Dessous, definitely a store that I’ve known for a long time.  It’s one of my favorite spots for sexy lingerie and top-notch burlesque attire.  This one is called Deeta in the “sea” color and is at an amazingly cheap price until March 25th.  It’s definitely not just for St. Patrick’s Day – especially if you love green!

So, yeah, I went a little nuts coz I found this other online photo editor (since Picnik will be closing soon), and it has all these fancy animations you can add to your pics.  I promise I won’t overdo it on the blog, but it was sooooo freaking easy to add everything!  Anyway, Happy St. Paddy’s Day, y’all.  If I was younger, I’d be down in the Irish Channel drinking (and eventually hurling) green beer. lol  But alas, ’tis gone, ’tis gone, those halcyon days of my youth. 😀  But here’s a composition shot of the lovely Deeta outfit so you can stop having your eyeballs assaulted by my throbbing animated pic above.

Ahhh, that’s better, isn’t it?  And gorgeous, too, right?  Oh yeah, between the awesome Chrysalis Poetic outfit and this one, I left skid marks on my teleporter as I rushed over to the Gypset Market to snag these!  Now, the hat does not come with the outfit. That was free from Rebel Hope, which has a shamrock full of little St. Paddy’s Day gifts right at the TP point.  But the outfit does come with the pretty prim jeweled embellishment between the bosoms.  It comes with the black lace choker, too.  The outfit is just so pretty and sexy!  The necklace is free for members of the inworld group for :+WTG+:+ – it’s the March group gift.  The nails and rings are also from +:+WTG+:+ – these are color change and not free, but there’s a Midnight Mania (or is it a lucky board?) pair that are single-colored and free for all.  The cute skin is from my fave Illusory.  This is the offering from Collabor88 which is still going on.  The shamrock cheek tattoos are from Chain and Vine and were last week’s Project Themeory offering.  It’s probably gone since there’s a new edition now, but you could check. (shrugs)  My bracelet is from Schadenfreude for Flux – Allegory put out a bunch of crow-themed jewelry, and this one is the Ostentation Bracelet.  All of the jewelry pieces are color changeable via a very large and easy to understand HUD.  You have so many choices, too!  Love it!  My hair is a new release from ploom – MESH!  This one is called Shira and comes with or without streaks.  Talk about an easy to use HUD – ploom’s are always so user-friendly.  My boots are an older release from G*Field – these are the old Short Lace-up Boots, which have pretty much been replaced by the Gina mesh boots.  (I finally picked those up last night, actually.)  Oh, my green eyes were a group gift (subscriber group!) from Insufferable Dastard – look for the folder called “Shades of Green” if you missed it.

The Amazing Chrysalis – Now at Gypset Market

Have you heard of the Gypset Market?  It’s a sale event for BeStyle Magazine Group and features many wonderful designers, most of whom are Italian by nationality, if I’m not mistaken.  To purchase most of the items (if not all), you need to join the BeStyle Magazine Group (free to join) and wear your group tag.  I found Chrysalis through the Gypset Market.  Chrysalis is another one of those stores that, until now, have flown below my SL fashion radar.  Well, no longer!  I was very impressed with Kristine Lowey’s offering for the Gypset event and had to run over to snag it.  Once I had tried it on, I was drooling – really.  That’s how wonderful this outfit is!  I had to run over and check out the rest of her store.  I was *very* impressed.  As soon as I gather enough lindens, I’m going back there, for sure!  But what the heck am I rambling on about?  Well, here ya go!

I love *everything* about this outfit!  From the feathery skirt to the tassled cone-bras with the swirly concentric circles; from the jaunty bowler with the raggedy flower to the flouncy jabot and the sexy fishnet stocking, this outfit just rocks!  It’s a special color (and a gorgeous red it is) for the Gypset Market.  You can find the outfit in navy blue, black, and maybe white (if my memory serves me correctly) at the main store.  Let me tell you how much I loved this outfit.  None of the boots in my ginormous, ridiculously overstuffed, bursting at the seams inventory did it justice.  Yes, that’s right, this outfit made me go shopping – at Bax Coen where I picked up these gorgeous red ankle boots that matched to a T.  How much do you love how the skin matches?!  It was a group gift (still available? not sure!) from Aura.  (I’m a loooooong time fan of Tyr Rozenblum from waaaaaaay back!)  The hair is also a group gift (probably still available) from Emo-tions.  If you join Emo-tions, you’ll soon have a ton of new hairstyles and outfits because many, many old group gifts are still sitting out in vendors on the wall and piled in gift boxes in front.  Just wear your group tag and “fill your boots” as my Scottish friend used to say.  I found these earrings in my inventory; they’re an old hunt gift from Ear Candy (probably one of the Starlust sim hunts from way back).  They were the perfect shade to matchy matchy.  For the wrist warmers/cuffs, I went with LouLou&Co.’s Tango in Crepescule Red.  Finally, I was feeling like a pretty badazz fashionista and decided I needed to add my Kitty Galore Sharp Claws from Virtual/Insanity.  I think they’re mostly hidden in the pics above though.

Happy Mardi Gras – Update!

Katat0nik released a new freebie to help finish out your Mardi Gras celebrations.  Remember, true Mardi Gras revelers party until the mounted police sweep through Bourbon Street at midnight!

The mask makeup is free at FLUX.  Just tp to the FLUX party site and take the exit door which will bring you down to the merchants at ground level.  To be honest, the door didn’t work for me, and luckily I had a tp failure and fell to ground level, from where I cammed in on the merchants’ board and tp’d to katat0nIk’s little store there.  lol  Hey, it was worth it for this beautiful free mask, which comes in three colors to match the Jester dresses.

Wastelands Wanderers

Browsing through the current collection of the Zombie Popcorn brand, I came upon the amazing Rina outfit from Severed Garden and just had to have it. Shortly thereafter, I saw the notice from Jolbey & Jasper about a new group gift, and that’s when I knew that a visit to the Wastelands was in order.

This is Severed Garden’s Rina outfit. It comes with two styles of skirts – with or without the furry bits, and two styles of top – one with protruding horns, and this slightly tamer version. It also includes the wrist, arm, and leg bands, the mask, the ears (color changeable via HUD), the little forehead horns, the large horns, the tail, and the digilegs. I may have even left out some pieces – it comes with *lots* of stuff! One thing it does *not* come with – underwear. Your naughty bits will be on full display for anyone with even rudimentary camming skills, unless you wear a fantasy skin with no genitalia. lol

The hair is the latest release from ( r e d ) m i n t – yes, once again, I’m wearing redmint! It’s perfect for your edgy Valentine’s wear (or anti-Valentine’s wear). Too bad the hearts don’t come in black, huh? The skin is the same redmint skin I’ve blogged previously – I think it’s doing a great job complementing this fantasy look.

As I mentioned, I also received a notice about Jolbey & Jasper’s new group gift Wasteland Warrior. The group is free to join, so anyone can “afford” this little treasure!

Of course, the digilegs and ears are remnants of the previous outfit, along with the gloves and armband, but you get the coat, two styles of top – short and belted like I’m wearing above, plus a longer top with more belts. The textures are just beautiful – you must take a look at this store if you like goth/fantasy/steampunk attire. Here’s one more pic.

Those little shorts are scrumptious, too. This is an outfit I’ll want to wear more than once. I actually got a random IM complementing me on the coat while I was out shopping last night. (I confess – I’m vain enough to just *love* when that happens. lol) 😀

Pinkmare’s House for Zombie Popcorn Hunt and Newness from RedMint

Hey, everyone!  I’m back again sooner than usual coz I’m just loving my new computer. SL looks so awesome on it! Shadows – whoot! I’m still figuring out what to do with those shadows, though, so this post will be the same old, same old, picture wise. Although I think the quality is better than before.

So, this time, as I was looking through my inventory at what had been dropped on me recently (mostly in my absence), I found a cute dress from Pinkmare’s House that is available in the Zombie Popcorn Hunt, which ends on February 15. Yay! You still have time to go get this one! The outfit includes the hat and the shiny rubber combat boots, too!  I also found some great hair and skins from Redmint, which I must say, I fell in love with.

How cute is this?! Normally when I try on Redmint skins, I’m a bit disappointed – not because of the quality, of course!  Just because they don’t look “right” on me. They look so cool on everyone else who wears them. So, once again I tried, hoping that this time they’d suit me. And they do! I particularly love the eyebrows on these new skins. Also, Moni seems to have softened them somewhat, making them look, idk, gentler. In any case, I love them! They come in oodles of colors, from the mainstream Pale tone I’m wearing here, all the way to pinks, purples, and dark drow. They really are fantasy style skins, but I think this new batch crosses over to mainstream quite nicely.

The Redmint hair is awesome, as usual. This style comes in single colors or in duo-tones like I’m wearing here.  The bangs are angled asymmetrically, giving it an edginess that appeals to little old moi.  Well, that’s about it for now.  Hope you liked.  Until next time…

Limping Along on my Craptop

Hello, all you lovely people.  Yes, I am still without a desktop or a computer of any kind that can adequately run SL.  It’s very frustrating to say the least.  For example, I managed to get quite a few of the prizes from a recent hunt, but was unable to take pictures before the hunt ended. lol  Talk about spinning one’s wheels.  So, I’ll continue to limp along until my new Aurora desktop from Alienware comes in.

So, I was able to take some pics of Blue Blood’s newest release, the fabulous Ivonne dress.  You’ll forgive the obvious low quality of my pictures, I hope.

Yep, this is me (Des) and not little Kat.  Actually, it is Kat, but in Des’ shape. The Ivonne dress is quite the bargain because it comes with three different skirt styles for utmost versatility.  This is the flirty lolita skirt.  The jacket is also on a separate layer, so you can choose to wear the dress without the jacket.  One thing I love about Ghani’s designs is that she always creates stocking tops or garters unique to each outfit.  It’s that attention to detail that makes her so special as an SL artist.  Want some details about my outfit?  Well, the hair was the hunt item from Hair Shop Nodoka for the Café Hunt, and the ribbon necklace with color change rose and pearls was the gift from Lassitude & Ennui for the same hunt.  (Yeah, that’s the one that just ended that I referenced above.)  The Gothika skin is a recent gift from [VoiD].  The hot little pink booties were the lucky chair (or board) gift from Crystal line.  The lucky is group only, but the group is free to join.  Crystal line also has several group gifts available in store, including the drop earrings worn above.

Holiday Gift from Gothic Passionate Dreams

Saur Holt of Gothic Passionate Dreams has put out a free dress for the holidays.  Best of all, it’s not green and red!  It’s a lovely black lace and satin gothic gown!

I was very pleased with the elegance of the dress, and did I mention it’s free? 🙂  The hair is from lamb and is called Phenomena.  I picked it up at Collabor88.  It comes with a shaved head hairbase, but I preferred it with a normal hairbase.  The little red rose is a freebie at SoliDea FoliEs; I went there looking for a sale item (that I missed – pouts), but found a truly gorgeous sim that I am sure to revisit.  The very spiked collar is from Haus of Darcy’s recent release, the Draconic Girl Collection.  Now, the skin.  I love when I get a random, out of the blue IM from a designer saying something along the lines of “want to see what I’m working on?”  My response is always the same – “do I?!!”  Such an event occurred Tuesday night when False Imako of Void chatted me up and gave me a sneak preview of her not-yet-released skins and new store.  This is the Hawk skin in the Natural tone with a new makeup called Frost.  The Hawk line features tintable eyebrows so you can match your hairtone.  Ms. Imako, a/k/a Boo, will be releasing several new makeups for Hawk.  Plus, she’s made some significant upgrades to the body – including glow!  I should really have stripped down to show you what a great job Boo has done with these skins.  But for now, you can get a little peak of Hawk by finding the prize for the Twilight Saga Hunt.  It’s a version of Hawk with makeup that pays homage to Alice Cullen.  It has little vampire teeth and is quite lovely!  Thank you so much, Boo, for treating me to a sneak peak!

Hunt Goodies Galore

So, I thought I’d do a freebie post for you guys.  There are so many hunts going on right now, and more will be starting very soon.  Today I’ll show you some goodies from the Jerky Turkey Hunt and the Diamond is Mine Hunt 3.

This pretty dress is from the Jerky Turkey Hunt, which runs from November 15 to December 15, and starts here.  This dress is the hunt prize from Eat Paste, along with the pretty “Stuffing” skin I’m wearing.  The stilettos with legwarmers are the hunt prize from Moxie and the candy corn tongue is the hunt prize from Epic.  I’m also wearing two necklaces that are hunt prizes from B!asta and Top Katz.  The hair is not from the hunt, it’s gorgeous RedMint hair – love this color! – that was recently on sale as part of the “everything 50% off sale.”  I’m not sure, but the sale is probably over.  Sorry, guys!  I just can’t seem to find the time to blog everything as quickly as I should!  My earrings are also not a hunt gift – they’re the Umbrella Ella Ella earrings in black from Virtual/Insanity.   My hair is hiding them, but they’re really cute – little upside down umbrellas.  Finally, I’m wearing some cool claw nails, also from Virtual/Insanity – the Kitty Galore Sharp Claws.  I’m in love with these because I took just a bit of time to adjust them – the old fashioned way by editing the individual nails – and now they fit no matter what my hands do!  Oh, they’re color change into about 8 colors, too.

I had to take a back shot to show you these cute chibi wings from Epic, another Jerky Turkey Hunt prize from them.  You can see the umbrella earring better here, too.

The Diamond is Mine Hunt is in its third incarnation, and the hunt prizes are amazing as usual.

This pretty red dress is the hunt prize from Butterfly Effects.  I’ve paired it with a pretty necklace that magically appeared in my inventory from Phresh.  I’m not sure how I acquired it – it could’ve been from slapping a Midnight Mania, or it may be a DIMH gift.  In any case, it’s pretty, so I’m gonna wear it!  The silver bracelet is the November group gift from Dark Mouse, and the black cuff is from one of my favorite new sets, the Requiem set (comes with cuffs and collar) from Malfean Visions.  This set is on sale for this weekend for only L$60.  Goth chicks – you need this set!  The shoes are a recent release from Dilly Dolls – the Beatrix Heels.  They are color change into at least 8 different colors, all for one low price.  These were created for the Vintage Fair and may only be available there for the time being.  Take a tip, go to the Vintage Fair at a really weird time, like 2 a.m. SLT and there will be no lag.  (lol that’s what I did last night).  The skin is to die for – Illusory’s ubiquitous Paige skin in a makeup called Soft Touch.  I picked it up at the Collabor88 event, which is quickly becoming my favorite revolving sale event.  The face tattoo is the DIMH3 gift from White~Widow, and I’ve added some tattoo layer lipstick from the soon-to-be-closed forever Sorry, Asia.  Last, but not least, the fabulous hair is from ploom.  This is one of my favorite styles from Helyanwe’s recent releases and is called Natie.  I’ve said before, ploom has a haircolor to match just about anything you want.  I love that!  And it’s super easy to find the color you want and add streaks with the HUD.

Okay, one more set to show you from the DIMH3.  I feel bad only showing you this little bit because there are *tons* of great items in these hunts!  This pretty, pretty dress is from Leri Miles Designs.

Okay, so I admit, I got a little lazy with this pic; I didn’t really change much by way of my accessories.  But, hey, they matched so nicely, I didn’t need to.  I did change my hair of course – this is the latest release from Wasabi Pills – such a cute little wintry style with the attached scarf.  Now, you gotta love mesh for these kinds of things – look how perfect that hair stays!  The scarf is texture change as well with the included HUD.  As I said, I’m wearing the same skin, jewelry, and shoes.  I did change the color of the Dilly Dolls Beatrix pumps to match the dress, though.

Newbie Style Challenge II

So, I feel kinda bad coz ever since I read that Gogo was doing another Newbie Style Challenge, I’ve been practically AWOL as Desiree.  I love creating new avatars, but since LL did away with last names, I was not thrilled with being BlanketyBlank Resident.  Ewwww.  What a horrible development.  But Gogo tipped us all off that the Library of Birmingham’s entrance portal still has names available.  That was all I needed to decide that the challenge was on!

I rezzed inworld as Katastrophic Hurricane (lol) on November 5th and have been having so much fun ever since.  Nothing like a new challenge to rev up one’s SL, huh?  The challenge is to create a new avatar and spend no more than L$550 to pimp him or her out.  Because freebie challenges have gotten a bad rap – designers depend on people spending lindens, not just grabbing freebies all the time – Gogo encouraged people to spend a little.  I have spent some lindens on Kat – a total of L$159 so far, but honestly, for this post, I spent only about L$10, thanks to gridwide hunts, lucky chairs, midnight manias, group gifts, and the wonderful FabFree store.

This is my favorite of the new looks.  The skin is available at the FabFree store from Imagen – it’s an older skin, but I’ve always loved the Lia skins.  I added tattoo layer makeup from MOCK, also free at the FabFree store.  I picked up the shape, which I’m wearing throughout this post, from Salt and Pepper for the Mushroom Hunt.  The cute necklace is also a Mushroom Hunt gift – this one from EY:NO.   I have to say that I’ve fallen in love with this quirky little shape.  My daughter, who is an art student, swears that this face is completely unrealistic – the features are too large for the head, but I don’t care.  There’s just something so wistful and sad, and a bit alien about her.  As I pointed out to her, SL avatars don’t have to be realistic!

My next look is thanks to the lucky board at Blue Blood.  I stalked those boards for quite a few hours, I must admit, trying to get this pink version.  Yes, very funny coz I’m Blue Blood’s “official” blogger – I update the store blog, and I could have easily just asked Ghani for the dresses, but that wouldn’t have been fair.  One of the challenge’s rules is that you cannot get your designer friends to give you stuff.  The shoes are the latest subscriber welcome gift from G Field, by the way.  I don’t think I have these for Desiree!  The cute hair is the Snow White hair from Bubblez Designs, available at the Bloggers R Us shop.  The skin is a brand new group gift from [VoiD], and I’ve added tattoo eyemakeup and lipstick layers, also available from [VoiD].  I admit the makeup was a gift from False Imako of VoiD.  I thanked her for putting out a newbie kit for those under 30 days old, and I asked her where the tattoo layer makeups were located, and voila, she gave me these!  Since I didn’t “request” the items, I’m going to use them!  (*sticks out tongue*)

Speaking of [VoiD]’s newbie kit, here’s the lovely, slightly battered skin that’s available free for new avatars.  You get the skin, eyelashes, eyes, a shape, a top, jeans, and even a basic girly AO.  I’ve added a tattoo from Para Designs called “Bleeding Eyes.”  The outfit was free from Pinkmare’s House.  I think it was a MM prize, but I don’t recall coz there are five lucky’s there, plus a MM board.  After about a week, I have quite a few Pinkmare’s outfits.  The hair is from Exile, which has a bunch of freebies at the mainstore.

Last, but certainly not least, I hit up Sn@tch to see what Ivey had for the new players.  Although I couldn’t find the “new player kit” at the mainstore, I did find this cute outfit, including the earrings, at the FabFree store.  The skin is a freebie from Weird Designs; I’m not sure whether you have to join the group or not, but if so, it’s free to join.  The pumps are still the new subscriber gift from Maitreya – a bunch of colors, just for slapping a subscriber board.  Nice!  The hair is the new celebration gift from Dura – again, the group is free to join.

Well, that’s about it for Kat and the Newbie Style Challenge II.  I guess I need to log in as Desiree and take care of blogging all the wonderful things the designers have been sending me!  I have a feeling I’ll be visiting Kat again soon, though.  Who knows?  She may even find herself a permanent place on this blog!   Until next time…
