Pinkmare’s House for Zombie Popcorn Hunt and Newness from RedMint

Hey, everyone!  I’m back again sooner than usual coz I’m just loving my new computer. SL looks so awesome on it! Shadows – whoot! I’m still figuring out what to do with those shadows, though, so this post will be the same old, same old, picture wise. Although I think the quality is better than before.

So, this time, as I was looking through my inventory at what had been dropped on me recently (mostly in my absence), I found a cute dress from Pinkmare’s House that is available in the Zombie Popcorn Hunt, which ends on February 15. Yay! You still have time to go get this one! The outfit includes the hat and the shiny rubber combat boots, too!  I also found some great hair and skins from Redmint, which I must say, I fell in love with.

How cute is this?! Normally when I try on Redmint skins, I’m a bit disappointed – not because of the quality, of course!  Just because they don’t look “right” on me. They look so cool on everyone else who wears them. So, once again I tried, hoping that this time they’d suit me. And they do! I particularly love the eyebrows on these new skins. Also, Moni seems to have softened them somewhat, making them look, idk, gentler. In any case, I love them! They come in oodles of colors, from the mainstream Pale tone I’m wearing here, all the way to pinks, purples, and dark drow. They really are fantasy style skins, but I think this new batch crosses over to mainstream quite nicely.

The Redmint hair is awesome, as usual. This style comes in single colors or in duo-tones like I’m wearing here.  The bangs are angled asymmetrically, giving it an edginess that appeals to little old moi.  Well, that’s about it for now.  Hope you liked.  Until next time…

Hunt Goodies Galore

So, I thought I’d do a freebie post for you guys.  There are so many hunts going on right now, and more will be starting very soon.  Today I’ll show you some goodies from the Jerky Turkey Hunt and the Diamond is Mine Hunt 3.

This pretty dress is from the Jerky Turkey Hunt, which runs from November 15 to December 15, and starts here.  This dress is the hunt prize from Eat Paste, along with the pretty “Stuffing” skin I’m wearing.  The stilettos with legwarmers are the hunt prize from Moxie and the candy corn tongue is the hunt prize from Epic.  I’m also wearing two necklaces that are hunt prizes from B!asta and Top Katz.  The hair is not from the hunt, it’s gorgeous RedMint hair – love this color! – that was recently on sale as part of the “everything 50% off sale.”  I’m not sure, but the sale is probably over.  Sorry, guys!  I just can’t seem to find the time to blog everything as quickly as I should!  My earrings are also not a hunt gift – they’re the Umbrella Ella Ella earrings in black from Virtual/Insanity.   My hair is hiding them, but they’re really cute – little upside down umbrellas.  Finally, I’m wearing some cool claw nails, also from Virtual/Insanity – the Kitty Galore Sharp Claws.  I’m in love with these because I took just a bit of time to adjust them – the old fashioned way by editing the individual nails – and now they fit no matter what my hands do!  Oh, they’re color change into about 8 colors, too.

I had to take a back shot to show you these cute chibi wings from Epic, another Jerky Turkey Hunt prize from them.  You can see the umbrella earring better here, too.

The Diamond is Mine Hunt is in its third incarnation, and the hunt prizes are amazing as usual.

This pretty red dress is the hunt prize from Butterfly Effects.  I’ve paired it with a pretty necklace that magically appeared in my inventory from Phresh.  I’m not sure how I acquired it – it could’ve been from slapping a Midnight Mania, or it may be a DIMH gift.  In any case, it’s pretty, so I’m gonna wear it!  The silver bracelet is the November group gift from Dark Mouse, and the black cuff is from one of my favorite new sets, the Requiem set (comes with cuffs and collar) from Malfean Visions.  This set is on sale for this weekend for only L$60.  Goth chicks – you need this set!  The shoes are a recent release from Dilly Dolls – the Beatrix Heels.  They are color change into at least 8 different colors, all for one low price.  These were created for the Vintage Fair and may only be available there for the time being.  Take a tip, go to the Vintage Fair at a really weird time, like 2 a.m. SLT and there will be no lag.  (lol that’s what I did last night).  The skin is to die for – Illusory’s ubiquitous Paige skin in a makeup called Soft Touch.  I picked it up at the Collabor88 event, which is quickly becoming my favorite revolving sale event.  The face tattoo is the DIMH3 gift from White~Widow, and I’ve added some tattoo layer lipstick from the soon-to-be-closed forever Sorry, Asia.  Last, but not least, the fabulous hair is from ploom.  This is one of my favorite styles from Helyanwe’s recent releases and is called Natie.  I’ve said before, ploom has a haircolor to match just about anything you want.  I love that!  And it’s super easy to find the color you want and add streaks with the HUD.

Okay, one more set to show you from the DIMH3.  I feel bad only showing you this little bit because there are *tons* of great items in these hunts!  This pretty, pretty dress is from Leri Miles Designs.

Okay, so I admit, I got a little lazy with this pic; I didn’t really change much by way of my accessories.  But, hey, they matched so nicely, I didn’t need to.  I did change my hair of course – this is the latest release from Wasabi Pills – such a cute little wintry style with the attached scarf.  Now, you gotta love mesh for these kinds of things – look how perfect that hair stays!  The scarf is texture change as well with the included HUD.  As I said, I’m wearing the same skin, jewelry, and shoes.  I did change the color of the Dilly Dolls Beatrix pumps to match the dress, though.

Newbie Style Challenge II

So, I feel kinda bad coz ever since I read that Gogo was doing another Newbie Style Challenge, I’ve been practically AWOL as Desiree.  I love creating new avatars, but since LL did away with last names, I was not thrilled with being BlanketyBlank Resident.  Ewwww.  What a horrible development.  But Gogo tipped us all off that the Library of Birmingham’s entrance portal still has names available.  That was all I needed to decide that the challenge was on!

I rezzed inworld as Katastrophic Hurricane (lol) on November 5th and have been having so much fun ever since.  Nothing like a new challenge to rev up one’s SL, huh?  The challenge is to create a new avatar and spend no more than L$550 to pimp him or her out.  Because freebie challenges have gotten a bad rap – designers depend on people spending lindens, not just grabbing freebies all the time – Gogo encouraged people to spend a little.  I have spent some lindens on Kat – a total of L$159 so far, but honestly, for this post, I spent only about L$10, thanks to gridwide hunts, lucky chairs, midnight manias, group gifts, and the wonderful FabFree store.

This is my favorite of the new looks.  The skin is available at the FabFree store from Imagen – it’s an older skin, but I’ve always loved the Lia skins.  I added tattoo layer makeup from MOCK, also free at the FabFree store.  I picked up the shape, which I’m wearing throughout this post, from Salt and Pepper for the Mushroom Hunt.  The cute necklace is also a Mushroom Hunt gift – this one from EY:NO.   I have to say that I’ve fallen in love with this quirky little shape.  My daughter, who is an art student, swears that this face is completely unrealistic – the features are too large for the head, but I don’t care.  There’s just something so wistful and sad, and a bit alien about her.  As I pointed out to her, SL avatars don’t have to be realistic!

My next look is thanks to the lucky board at Blue Blood.  I stalked those boards for quite a few hours, I must admit, trying to get this pink version.  Yes, very funny coz I’m Blue Blood’s “official” blogger – I update the store blog, and I could have easily just asked Ghani for the dresses, but that wouldn’t have been fair.  One of the challenge’s rules is that you cannot get your designer friends to give you stuff.  The shoes are the latest subscriber welcome gift from G Field, by the way.  I don’t think I have these for Desiree!  The cute hair is the Snow White hair from Bubblez Designs, available at the Bloggers R Us shop.  The skin is a brand new group gift from [VoiD], and I’ve added tattoo eyemakeup and lipstick layers, also available from [VoiD].  I admit the makeup was a gift from False Imako of VoiD.  I thanked her for putting out a newbie kit for those under 30 days old, and I asked her where the tattoo layer makeups were located, and voila, she gave me these!  Since I didn’t “request” the items, I’m going to use them!  (*sticks out tongue*)

Speaking of [VoiD]’s newbie kit, here’s the lovely, slightly battered skin that’s available free for new avatars.  You get the skin, eyelashes, eyes, a shape, a top, jeans, and even a basic girly AO.  I’ve added a tattoo from Para Designs called “Bleeding Eyes.”  The outfit was free from Pinkmare’s House.  I think it was a MM prize, but I don’t recall coz there are five lucky’s there, plus a MM board.  After about a week, I have quite a few Pinkmare’s outfits.  The hair is from Exile, which has a bunch of freebies at the mainstore.

Last, but certainly not least, I hit up Sn@tch to see what Ivey had for the new players.  Although I couldn’t find the “new player kit” at the mainstore, I did find this cute outfit, including the earrings, at the FabFree store.  The skin is a freebie from Weird Designs; I’m not sure whether you have to join the group or not, but if so, it’s free to join.  The pumps are still the new subscriber gift from Maitreya – a bunch of colors, just for slapping a subscriber board.  Nice!  The hair is the new celebration gift from Dura – again, the group is free to join.

Well, that’s about it for Kat and the Newbie Style Challenge II.  I guess I need to log in as Desiree and take care of blogging all the wonderful things the designers have been sending me!  I have a feeling I’ll be visiting Kat again soon, though.  Who knows?  She may even find herself a permanent place on this blog!   Until next time…

The Black Butler Hunt, Part One – Awesome Prizes!

*This post has been edited to fix a huge mistake I made.  The Faun Outfit is *not* part of the Black Butler Hunt gifts from Bubblez!  I am nothing if not honest!*

I’m not a huge hunt aficionado mostly because my inventory is ridiculously overgrown – I’m rocking over 140k right now after weeding out several thousand items. But when the Black Butler Hunt posters went up in various locations a few months ago, my ears perked up.  Black Butler, or Kiroshitsuji in Japanese, is an amazing anime series that takes place in Victorian England.  I confess that I’ve never watched even one *complete* episode, but I’ve been in the room while my daughter has watched them (at one time, quite obsessively). lol  In any case, I knew this was a hunt I’d have to check out.  I was not disappointed at all.  I found some new-to-me stores, some so amazing that I promptly dropped existing groups to join theirs.  In several cases, I couldn’t leave the stores until I had shopped and bought some things.  So, today I’m going to show you some of the awesome prizes available in the Black Butler Hunt.  It would be a ridiculously long post, so I’ll break it into two parts.

The object you’re hunting is called “Bitter Rabbit” and is basically a stuffed bunny wearing an eyepatch and  vest.  Here’s a shot I took of the sign at what I believe is the hunt headquarters.  You can get more information from the official hunt blog here.

It shows the stores involved in the Hunt – as you can see it’s a short hunt – about 35 stores total.  If you join the hunt group, it will go much faster, trust me.  So, first I want to show you a really cool gift for the guys from one of my new favorite stores – Bubblez.  (I loved it so much, I joined the group.  You should, too, because there are tons of group gifts available right now.)  Bubblez’ hunt gift is a Sebastian outfit – Sebastian is the titular Black Butler.  Paired with the hunt gift from .:BND:., you have an entire Sebastian avatar!

This is still me, Desiree, but I’m wearing the gifties from the hunt – the shape, eyes, and skin are the hunt gift from .:BND:. – another fantastic store that you must check out.  The prices are crazy low and the stuff is just awesome!  The hair is *not* free – it’s from Sadistic Hacker, which is really the “go to” place if you want anime/manga inspired hair.  This is the Claude hair (Claude is another character from Black Butler).  The entire outfit, except for the cheesy shoes which I found in my library, is the other hunt prize from Bubblez.  I apologize because I know I didn’t edit the prim/sculpted pieces to fit as well as I should have.  It was late, and I’m not a guy, idk.  Oh, do you see the cute teapot and teacup in the middle picture?  That is the hunt gift from Love Soul, and it comes with three different types so you can get the pouring animation lined up just right for your avatar.  The animation is so realistic with the animated tea texture and the steam.  Love it!

What’s next?  So many great outfits to choose from!  Ok, how about a nice gothic lolita dress with lots of lace and frills?

This is the hunt prize from Ambrosia – the Blackberry dress.  I did notice that there’s a weird shadow texture above the bodice, but I appreciate how the designer put different textures on different layers  – for example the transparent dotted lace over the sculpted sleeves and the skirt.  Also, when you move you’ll see how pretty the dress really is because there are different textures under the main skirt texture.  Oh, those black eyes are part of the hunt gift from Rozena.  You also get a pair of pretty brown eyes.  I picked up the bracelets from BND for super cheap.  (Seriously, I think I bought everything in the store and spent maybe L$200.)  Ok. Too much chatter… more pictures!

This little black dress is the hunt gift from Natural.  It comes with the hat and gloves.  The shoes are the hunt gift from Lassitude & Ennui.  I hadn’t been to L & E in ages and quickly realized the error of my ways and bought three pairs of boots/shoes.  L & E is one of those venerable old stores in SL that have been around practically since the beginning of SL.  They’re still amazing. Here’s another pretty black dress available in the hunt.

This dress from RibboN comes with the ginormous hat. 🙂  I’m also wearing more bracelets I bought from .:BND:. (they actually came as part of outfits).  I just love my fawn legs and ears from Bubblez (not free!!).  I didn’t want to take them off.  Ok, how about something more colorful?

This frilly skirt and sculpted corset outfit is the hunt gift from **izm**.  It also comes with the matching hat, of course.  You can choose not to wear the sculpted corset as the design comes on the system jacket piece as well.  I chose to wear the sculpted corset, but I had to drastically edit my shape (like no bewbs at all)  – just sayin’.  I also tried wearing the corset alpha layers from Dilly Dolls’ Overbust Corset and Schadenfreude’s corsets, but modifying my shape worked better.  I love that skirt, though – it’s so frilly, lacy and pink!  The corset is worth fiddling with because it has all those embellishments on the bottom of it.

Hawt Freebies Found

Yowza!  I found two hot outfits for free!  Maybe you’ve seen them before, maybe not.  First up, LouLou&Co is participating in the Diamond is Mine Hunt, and has this sexy red dress.  I know, right?  LouLou&Co makes awesome, edgy jewelry, but she also makes very well-constructed and well-textured clothes, too!  And this one’s free!  Just find the rather large diamond.

Please don’t look too closely at my pic (lol).  I used a green screen and GIMPed it out; but I also use anti-aliasing and high resolution pic’s inworld, so it creates a halo of whatever color background I’m using.  I had a bitch of a time trying to get rid of the green halo.  If anyone knows how to do this easily, please email me!

Anyway, I’m also wearing my favorite new bracelet fromLouLou&Co – French Kiss (yeah, this is like the third post I’ve worn it in lol).  I’m also wearing some cool things from Virtual/Insanity – the  collar, as well as the piercings and the scissors tattoo.  The  piercings and tattoo are free right now at V/I if you can find the vendors. The cute flats are also from V/I and are on sale 50% off right now.  Hurry!  Now, want to see something really hot??

Hot damn, right?!  You can zoom in on these to your heart’s content, too: I used my usual white screen for these shots. lol  But, isn’t this sexy??  It’s free at Beauty Killer for the PostApocalyptic Mutants Hunt.  You’re looking for a green biohazard symbol.  The official hunt clue is “– Beauty Killer –  These girls are purple and glowy, one of them is holding the special item.”  The mask is also part of the hunt gift – it’s unisex, too.  It’s scripted to make breathing sounds, and turns on and off via click.  Pretty cool!  I’ve paired the outfit up with various items in my inventory from DV8 – the boots and hair.  Somebody out on the grid liked this outfit coz I got im’d by some dude last night while shopping. lol  He was a nice fella, though; he was just looking for some boots.   Anyway, I’m not exactly sure when these two hunts end, so get on over to LouLou&Co and Beauty Killer and snag these while you can!

Most Original Hunt Gift Ever!

Well, by most original, I mean the most imaginative Halloween hunt gift.  I’m talking about Aliza Karu’s hunt gift for the Zombie Raid Hunt, sponsored by Dead Dolls of SL.  I’m sure you’ve seen it blogged before.  It is just so different!

The full skeleton is attached to the skirt, which is a caged skirt with bones for supports.  The bodice also is made of bones; I love the bones around the ribcage, with the hands over the breasts!  The outfit also includes the matching shoes.

Check out that skeleton dude’s face!  Excellent sculpt work!  The dress is a gorgeous ivory confection with loads of sheer fabric draped everywhere.  Continuing on with the bone motif, even your head will be encased.  And no need to worry about fitting your hair because the hair is included.

Hey, guys, I’m back with a first for me  – a retraction.  RL has been kicking me in the butt so much this last week, that I was bound to make mistakes.  And I did.  I previously posted that the Gother Than Thou Hunt gift from aMused was the Ruby Demon skin.  Wrong!  It’s actually this skin….

The Gother Than Thou Hunt Has Begun!

Yes, there’s a fantastic hunt starting today for lovers of all things goth.  It’s the Gother Than Thou Hunt for The Thrifty Goth Group.  46 stores across the grid!  You’re looking for red vampire skulls, but there’s a catch.  You have to be a member of  The Thrifty Goth Group and wear your tag to get the prizes.  Now Oriana, the Queen of the Thrifty Goths had closed the group as of yesterday, but I (along with others, I’m sure) convinced her to open the group for a week so that people could join to enjoy our fun.  Now, the hunt lasts until September 15, so if you’re not a member and you want these awesome prizes, make sure you join the group this week!  Oriana also wanted me to tell you that all new members (as well as old members, of course) are required to follow the group’s rules. As she says in the The Rules, “Violators will be warned/removed (and then eaten).” I love that last part. Yes, we have a violator roast about once a month!  They’re tasty! 😉 Enough chatter, let’s see some of the prizes!

This is the hunt prize from Blue Blood – it’s the hunt exclusive color of the new lucky board outfit – Amelia in black.  How cute and sexy is this??  I’m also wearing the hunt gifts from Favole – the Unsung Symphony Hat and Wingless Elegance posture collar (cool names, btw).  The skin is the August L$50 special from Heartsick.  You should already know how much I love Heartsick’s skins.  They are unique!  The boots and bracelets I’ll tell you about next.

This is the prize from DV8 – it includes the top and skirt, plus the belt, belly piercing, collar, bracelets, and boots.  Wow!  Thank you, DV8!!  The Ruby Demon skin is the hunt gift from aMused, and it is a gorgeous red skin that just begged for horns.  I naturally complied by adding these beauties I picked up at House of Ruin, which is going out of business (sad face) and having a blowout sale.  You want more gifties??  Well, there are plenty more!

This cute dress is from Arsenic Lace – the Clarette dress.  It comes with the sculpted shawl.  I’ve removed it for the center picture to show you the hunt gift from Shameless Designs – the Gother Than Thou Necklace.  I’m again wearing the DV8 bracelets and boots coz they’re made of awesome!

These are the hunt gifts from Calamity and Demotik.  The Ariel fishnet and leather outfit is from Calamity and comes with the choker, spiked bracelets and hat.  Very cool.  The bloody vampire skin is a prehunt gift from Nightshade to The Thrifty Goth Group.  Join the group and check the notices to grab it.  The Gother Boots are the hunt gift from Demotik.  They come with an alpha layer for users of the newer viewers, as well as invisiprims for us holdouts (lol).  They also come with a HUD to change the color of your skin and pedicure.   Here’s a closeup of the Demotik boots.

Rotten Toe – Oh Nurse!

Hello, my loverlies.  I’m so sorry I was away for a couple of days.  Sunday was nuts in my RL, and yesterday I found out why all my bun buns were starving.  Who knew there was a mandatory update??  And we only 3 days (!) to do it!  I spent several hours last night updating my poor bun buns.  (By the way, if anyone wants a bun, please IM me inworld.  I haz the bunneh fevah.

Anyway, back to business!  Rotten Toe released this fantastic Nurse outfit over the weekend.  It comes in clean and bloody, and includes two pairs of shoes (white or red), two nice hygienic face masks (clean or bloody), two pairs of stockings (red or white), an eye patch, a ginormous syringe (resizeable), and syringes that poke out of your chest.  So much fun!  Take a look at the pics.

Ignore my bloody background, this is the clean outfit.  😀  Is that syringe big enough for ya?  I sized it *down* too. lol Check out the drops of blood on the needle.  I love the belt with the extra syringes, too.  This outfit has a fantastic amount of detail.  Elsa’s thought of everything.  Ok, here’s the bloody version.

Ya gotta love those syringes sticking out of your chest.  What a hoot!  The bangles are not part of the outfit.  I picked those up for free at Sn@tch’s Neko Mall satellite shop.  The Neko mall is having a sim-wide hunt and there are lots of cute freebies there for the grabbing.  Look for the tulips.  (Not everything is neko, either, but I did find a nice tail and ears set.)  Sn@tch has two hunt freebies, neither of which is neko per se.   There’s virtually no lag there, either.  So, go get ’em.

Oh, I have to mention the skin even though I’m sure they’ve been blogged to death.  Sanu!  Omg! Sanu made these cute skins.  They’re very fresh and dewy and young.  And they’re free in the Needle in a Haystack hunt.  Just look for the little prim haystack.  The skins come with two options – plain and blushed – plus two needles for your mouth are included – a silver and a gold.

Dilly Dolls has the cutest outfit for the Dark Katz Hunt – a versatile outfit that can be worn as shorts or a skirt.  There’s also a separate male version (without the skirt of course).  🙂

Tonna comes with a belt, wrist cuffs, a wrist watch, socks, shorts, skirt, and two tops – a tank top and a sweater.

Here are the shorts with the other top options including the sweater without the tank underneath (oops!  Ma bewbs are showin’!)  The hair is the new release Shinji from TRUTH – yay!  finally a goth-type hair from TRUTH!

Tonna also comes in red, purple, and black.  Ok.. I realized after I’d shot all these photos that I’d inadvertently left on my Violent Seduction underpants – which include garters.  So the black version above is without the Violent Seduction underpants layer.  Definitely looks better that way. 🙂

Oh, Oriana also released some cute little bears to carry around on your back.  Here’s the checkered bear.  It also comes with an AO so that you can walk all hunched over carrying it.  lol
