Fantavatar & Moonstruck for Fashion for Life

Fantavatar & Moonstruck by Luna Barak is a new-to-me store that specializes in fantasy and role play fashions.  For herFashion for Life offerings, Luna moved away from her usual styles to create very colorful and playful gowns.  Her idea was to give those fighting cancer a positive attitude, which is so very important when fighting this devastating disease.  I totally understand Luna’s thinking.  I couldn’t help but smile when I was photographing these dresses.  They are crazy and fun!  First, I’ll show you the ” Squary Black” outfit.

You can certainly see how the dress got its name!  Against a sequined black fabric are a multitude of shimmery colored squares.  The gown is cut to “there” on one side – pretty much open, actually – and on the other are the cascades of squares.  Some are on transparent pieces that give the illusion of  lace, so to speak.  The motif of squares is continued on the chest adornment which drapes over your shoulder, and even on the gloves where there are more prim squares.  If you want the complete look, you can purchase the hair separately, which comes in several shades of black.  The lovely skin I’m wearing here is another makeup from the Hush skins that I wore in yesterday’s post.  This is the Cherry Blossom makeup of the Paige skin in the Sugar tone.  So pretty!  Hush Darkrose created these skins specially for FFL and all proceeds go to the charity.  Plus, if you like this makeup, the Honey tone is the FFL Hunt item!  You also get a L$200 gift card.  Niiiice!

Returning to the Fantavatar & Moonstruck dresses, if the Squarey Dress isn’t colorful enough to liven your mood, you’ll want to try the “Bubbles” outfit.

I felt a bit like Carmen Miranda in this gown – the hair has a certain vibe to it – and the hot purple, orange, and yellow color palette will wake up a whole room!  Again, the circle theme is continued on the chest adornments and gloves, and on the hair which can also be purchased separately to complete the look.  The proceeds of the sales of both of these dresses goes to Fashion for Life.  Luna also has a pair of pretty shoes with a color-change silk spat that can easily be tinted to match the dresses.

As you all know by now, Fashion for Life is the longest running and most successful fashion fair in Second Life ™ and marks the annual start of the official Relay for Life events that take place inworld each year.  All donations are given directly to the Relay for Life general fund which benefits the American Cancer Society and its thousands of beneficiaries who rely on the charity for support and advice.  Fashion for Life is one hundred percent not for profit, and all organisation, building work and coordination are driven by the work of its volunteers which helps to maximize donated money.

Here’s a bit more information about Fashion for Life, but you can find even more information on the official website here.  And, if you’re looking for a particular store at Fashion for Life,  Roscko Cobalt of Ruca Tease has put together an extensive set of sim maps for each of the 9 vendor sims.  You can find that information here.

  • This year, Fashion for Life spans an incredible ten lag-free sims with over 200 stores selling the latest fashions, accessories, hair and unique designer items made especially for this event. There will also be gacha areas, a hunt, a raffle and a SALE- all with the end goal of raising funds for the American Cancer Society via SL.  The sims will be laid out in a cross formation and will represent the theme “Its Time…” with builds representing stages in time: past, present, future and timeless. All building and landscaping have been created by some of SL’s top designers and builders to produce a beautiful environment for your charity shopping sprees!  Alongside the fabulous fashion, there will be a sim dedicated to providing a minimum of 12 hours entertainment and activities every day, so you can socialize, have fun and meet new people, too.  The sims have been kindly sponsored by ‘Dream Seeker Estate Corporation’ which has drastically reduced administrative expenses, helping to free up even more money for Relay for Life.

Well, that’s it for now.  I’ll be back with more goodies to show you soon, you can count on that!  But before I come back to show you more FFL goodies, I might have to let little Kat take over the blog for a post coz she’s dying to show you some awesome new dolly stuff!  So, until next time…

Happy hunting, gathering, shopping, etc. *mwah*!
